The Manchester Branch 75th Anniversary Ball

Manchester Branch started 2010, our Diamond Jubilee Year with our 75th Anniversary Ball on 30th January at Hyde Town Hall. One hundred and eleven people helped us celebrate this important milestone in the history of Manchester Branch and thoroughly enjoyed themselves dancing to Colin Dewar’s Band. The Branch was delighted to welcome RSCDS President Alex Gray, his wife Kate and Joan Heneghan our Honorary Vice President as our guests. We had a celebratory cake which was cut by Alex Grey and Joan Henenghan. It was made with our branch emblem that Eileen Trenell had designed many years ago. We also produced a ball programme containing a short history of the early history of the branch.

Dance Booklet

A commemorative booklet including a collection of dances has been published to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Branch in 2010. The teachers and members of our Tuesday and Wednesday classes wrote the dances. Our musicians, John Trigg and Ishbel Saxon composed the tunes and Barbara Doyle helped in arranging the music for the dances. All the dances and tunes have a "tale to tell" about the Manchester Branch. Avaiable from Helen Freer (see contacts) £2 + p&p.
